A person with mental health issues attempted to activate a grenade: he has been arrested
On November 25, a person with mental health issues was arrested. The individual was a resident of Ptghni village.
Before the arrest, emergency medical personnel attempted to transfer him to a psychiatric hospital. He resisted while holding a grenade in his hand. After negotiations and explanatory work by police officers, the 32-year-old man placed the grenade on the ground. He was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. Drugs were also found at the scene.
According to the “Psychiatric Assistance and Services” law, psychiatric assistance can also be provided in outpatient forms.
The law states that physical restraint or isolation measures may be applied to a person with mental health issues if there is a risk of harm to themselves or others, or if there is a threat of such harm.
