According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the number of missing persons due to the Artsakh conflict is approximately 5,000. This information has been gathered based on family reports. The data refers to the recent wars in Artsakh from 2020 to 2023, as well as the 1990s. Around 1,000 of them are citizens of Armenia. The list also includes individuals whose relatives consider them missing, despite the availability of DNA test results.

According to official data, the number of missing persons from Armenia due to the Artsakh conflict between 1988-2005 is 437. Of these, 224 are military personnel, and 213 are civilians. In Artsakh, 723 people are considered missing, of whom 250 are military personnel and 473 are civilians. The rest of the individuals went missing mainly during the events of 2020-2024.

The search for missing persons, however, as noted by Amatuni, is the responsibility of the authorities. She suggested mapping potential burial sites when there is some information available about a person.
