The French National Assembly has expressed no confidence in the current government: The names of the candidates for Prime Minister are known

The French National Assembly has expressed no confidence in Michel Barnier’s government. Out of 574 deputies, 331 voted in favor of the no-confidence motion.

The initiative to express no confidence in the government was presented to the parliament by the opposition left-wing alliance “New National Front” and representatives of the far-right “National Rally” party.

Michel Barnier lost the confidence of the Assembly because he approved the budget for the next year without a parliamentary vote. On Thursday, the presidency announced that Barnier had resigned from his position, but he will continue to serve until the appointment of a new government.

The names of the new Prime Minister candidates are known. Among them are Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, and former presidential candidate François Bayrou.
