The new government flag has been raised at the Syrian Embassy in Armenia
The new government flag has been raised at the Syrian Embassy in Armenia. The embassy, located at 14 Baghramyan Street, was guarded by employees of the National Security Service. They did not allow journalists to take pictures of the area without the state emblem. The flag of the former Syrian government was removed on December 9.
Due to the situation in Syria, Armenia’s embassy there relocated its operations to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
However, there is still no information regarding the developments in Armenia-Syria diplomatic relations.
On November 27, members of Syrian opposition armed groups launched a large-scale attack in the Aleppo and Idlib provinces. By December 7, they had managed to capture several cities in Syria, including Aleppo, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, and Homs. On December 8, armed groups entered the capital, Damascus. Shortly afterward, Bashar al-Assad left the country and fled to Russia with his family.
