The Armenia-France Defense Cooperation Program for 2025 has been signed

On December 10, strategic defense consultations between Armenia and France took place at the Ministry of Defense, involving Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Defense Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense, and his French counterpart, Alexandre Escorsia.

The consultations summarized the work carried out in 2024 and discussed plans for the upcoming year. The parties emphasized the importance of cooperation in defense planning, military education and training, advisory support, preparation of various troop types, military-technical collaboration, and other areas.

The Armenia-France Defense Cooperation Program for 2025 was signed. According to the Ministry of Defense, the program includes several dozen activities across almost all areas of the Armed Forces’ operations.

Armenian-French military cooperation has advanced significantly. For example, Armenia is set to receive 36 Caesar artillery systems over the next 15 months. Under a contract signed on October 23, 2023, Paris committed to supplying three Mistral missiles and GM200 radars to Yerevan. France has also provided “Bastion” armored vehicles to Armenia. Five of which have already been showcased during military exercises.

On June 17, 2024, a military-technical cooperation agreement was signed between the French defense industry company KNDS and Armenia’s Ministry of Defense.

It is worth noting that, at Suren Papikyan’s invitation, the French Minister of Armed Forces visited Armenia for the first time this year.
