Certain Consular Services Are Also Available Online
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Armenian citizens abroad can now use video conferencing tools to apply for or renew passports and obtain return certificates to Armenia. These services are managed by staff based in Yerevan.
Armenia has 55 consulates in 43 countries. However, due to distance and other challenges, these consulates are often inaccessible to citizens. For example, in countries like Russia, Canada, and the United States, individuals need to travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers to access consular services. The newly established online service aims to address these issues.
Applicants using the service are contacted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff within two days, after which the passport is either sent by mail or handed over to an authorized person.
The service, however, involves fees: 90,000 AMD for a passport and 450,000 AMD for a return certificate to Armenia.
