Ruben Vardanyan’s son reports that his father is in isolation
Former State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan’s son, David Vardanyan, has stated that lawyers are unable to visit his father.
The key issue and the absurdity of the situation is that the only individuals who can visit my father to represent his interests are Azerbaijani lawyers. Our international lawyers have not only been unable to visit him but have also failed to establish any contact with him. This creates a complete information vacuum and total isolation, – RTVI quotes his son as saying.
Vardanyan also noted that independent doctors are unable to visit Ruben Vardanyan, and all inquiries from lawyers “have either been ignored or outright rejected.” He added that the only means of communication is through letters via the Red Cross, which is strictly limited to no more than 4 pages.
The Red Cross is doing what it can, but their hands are tied as well. We cannot send regular letters. My father has said that he has sent numerous letters, but none of them have reached their recipients, meaning that communication through this channel is also not functioning, – David Vardanyan said.
David Vardanyan confirmed that his father faces 45 charges under 20 different articles. The accusations are based on provisions of 20 different articles of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code. Fabricated evidence has been compiled into 100 volumes, totaling approximately 25,000 pages, all in Azerbaijani.
