2 Positive and 1 Negative COVID Test: Pashinyan Did Not Attend the CIS Leaders’ Meeting
On December 25, Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page that he would not attend the informal summit of CIS leaders due to a positive COVID test result. Earlier, Peskov had stated that a meeting between Pashinyan and Putin was not planned, even though it was still unclear whether Pashinyan would travel to St. Petersburg or not. Additionally, it was mentioned that he would also be unable to attend the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit in person and would participate via video link. Ilham Aliyev also did not attend the informal meeting of CIS leaders due to the crash of an Azerbaijani aircraft in Kazakhstan.
On Monday, December 23, I tested positive for COVID. On December 23 and 24, I isolated myself and worked from my residence. On December 25, my test result came back negative, and I am returning to my regular work schedule. However, after consulting with my colleagues, I will not attend the informal summit of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg today, – Pashinyan wrote.
Shortly after this, he announced again that his test had once again returned a positive result. Consequently, several official meetings were either canceled or postponed.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, 192 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Armenia in November.
Nevertheless, during the meeting held on December 25, several issues were discussed. Putin invited the CIS leaders to participate in the events marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, to be held in Moscow.
