Over 5,500 Forcibly Displaced Individuals from Artsakh Granted Armenian Citizenship

More than 5,500 individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh have been granted Armenian citizenship. This was reported by the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Migration Service reported that, as of December 25, 6,724 forcibly displaced individuals from Artsakh had applied for Armenian citizenship, out of which 5,510 were granted citizenship by decree of Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

This statistic does not include minors. When parents receive citizenship, their children automatically acquire it by law through the passport issuance process. Individuals under 18 years of age do not need to undergo additional procedures.

As of November 28, 6,338 people from Artsakh had applied for citizenship, with 4,394 being granted it. According to the Migration Service, 115,365 individuals have been forcibly displaced from Artsakh since September 2023.

The majority of forcibly displaced individuals from Artsakh currently reside in Kotayk Province (20,331 people). The second-largest concentration is in Ararat Province (14,743), followed by Armavir Province (10,416).
