Armenian Grandmasters Among the Prizewinners in the World Blitz Chess Championship
Armenian grandmasters concluded their performances in the World Blitz Chess Championship held in New York. The champions of the blitz chess tournament were former World Champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway and Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi. In the women’s competition, Chinese grandmaster Ju Wenjun emerged victorious.
The Chess Federation of Armenia reported that Armenian grandmaster Haik Martirosyan was among the prizewinners in the men’s championship. He scored 9 points out of a possible 13, sharing 11th-13th places.
In the women’s championship, Armenian grandmaster Elina Danielian was also among the prizewinners. She scored 7 points out of a possible 11, sharing 14th-24th places.
The results of all participating Armenian chess players were as follows: Haik Martirosyan: 9 points, Tigran Petrosyan: 7 points, Karen Grigoryan: 6.5 points, Zaven Andriasyan: 6.5 points, Robert Hovhannisyan: 6.5 points, Aram Hakobyan: 6 points, Shant Sargsyan: 5.5 points, Emin Ohanyan: 4.5 points, Elina Danielian: 7 points, Anna Sargsyan: 6.5 points, Mariam Mkrtchyan: 5.5 points.
