The Water Level of Lake Sevan Has Risen

As of December 2024, the water level of Lake Sevan has risen by 22 centimeters. This information was reported by the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Environment. According to the report, the lake’s level is currently at 1,900.43 meters above sea level, marking the highest level in the past 8 years. Prior to this, the most significant increase was recorded in 2016, with a rise of 27 centimeters. The lake reached its peak level in 2020.

In 2024, 185 million cubic meters of water flowed into the lake. Additionally, heavy rainfall was recorded in recent months. This is believed to be one of the main reasons for the rise in the water level.

According to recent data, the water level of Lake Sevan continues to fluctuate under the influence of natural conditions, these fluctuations are crucial for assessing the ecological state of the lake. However, changes in water levels are accompanied by environmental challenges in the surrounding areas, which require continuous monitoring.
