6 Candidates to Participate in the Parakar Primaries

At the December 3 session of the Civil Contract Party’s board, it was decided that 6 candidates will participate in the preliminary elections of the enlarged Parakar community. The candidates are Arpine Arakelyan, Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan, Karen Yeremyan, Mher Harutyunyan, Arman Mnatsakanyan, and Gor Saribekyan.

The candidate who receives the most votes in the preliminary elections will be appointed acting head of the enlarged Parakar community. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on his Telegram channel.

Previously, similar elections were held in Gyumri. Parakar is the second community where Pashinyan will appoint a leader.

On December 5, 2021, local self-government elections were held in Parakar under a proportional electoral system. After the resignation of former Parakar leader David Minasyan, he was arrested in June 2024 and released on bail in September. Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan has also been involved in criminal proceedings related to a murder in Yerevan. He was present at the scene and sustained a leg injury.

The primaries will take place from January 11 to 13, 2025.
