Tsovinar Tadevosyan to Be Appointed Head of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice
Tsovinar Tadevosyan will be appointed as the Head of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in a video statement.
Previously, Tadevosyan served as the head of the Department of Social, Psychological, and Legal Affairs of the central body of the Penitentiary Service.
The position has been vacant since December 5, 2024, following Prime Minister Pashinyan’s decision to dismiss Acting Head Ambakum Grigoryan from his duties.
As early as October 2024, there were reports that Grigoryan had submitted his resignation. His appointment had been opposed from the beginning by Civil Contract Party MP Andranik Kocharyan, who openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision to appoint Grigoryan to the post. Kocharyan even voiced his concerns during a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
