The Government Publishes Draft Plan for the 2024-2040 Demographic Strategy
The government has released a draft plan to approve the 2024-2040 demographic strategy aimed at improving Armenia’s demographic situation.
The project outlines specific actions to achieve the strategic goals of enhancing Armenia’s demographic conditions. It aligns with the demographic strategy approved by the government on October 17, 2024, under Decision N 1641-L.
Armenia has developed an extensive demographic strategy for 2024–2040 with a total budget of $6.7 billion, encompassing 190 programs. The strategy is expected to generate $44 billion in economic revenue over two decades, in addition to improving the population structure and human capital.
The program was created by Armenian experts with the support of the UN. It aims for a more balanced population structure, long-term human capital development, and improved quality of life. The focus extends beyond birth and death rates, emphasizing the broader development of human capital.
The implementation of the plan requires no additional financial resources, as expenses will be covered by the state budget and other legally permitted sources.
The program aligns with the “Human Capital Development” section of the government’s 2021-2026 agenda and the demographic goals outlined in the “Armenia Transformation Strategy 2050.”
