
The death toll in Los Angeles rises to 16
The death toll from wildfires in southern California has reached 16, according to NBC News.
The wildfires began spreading in the Los Angeles area on January 7. The rapid spread of the fire was caused by dry and extremely windy weather. Over 10,000 structures have been destroyed by the fire.
Property damages are estimated at around $150 billion. More than 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate.
The fires have also reached cities with large Armenian populations. Members of the Armenian community have suffered property losses as well. Sahak-Mesrop School has been completely burned down.
