Changes in Medical Examinations for 16-Year-Olds at Military Commissariats
At its January 16 session, the government approved a draft regulation concerning the medical examination and assessment procedures for citizens subject to military service. This expands the scope of medical examinations conducted in primary healthcare institutions for male citizens turning 16 that year, for the purpose of registering them at military commissariats.
Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan noted that the draft regulates issues related to entering citizens’ health information into an electronic system and implementing referral processes through the same system. Information about individuals undergoing examination will be provided in digital format via the electronic healthcare platform “Armed.”
Papikyan emphasized the importance of introducing the new system, as it can automatically guide physicians to conduct comprehensive examinations. Certain conditions have mild, moderate, or severe manifestations. And this system will reduce the need for repeated assessments.
According to the minister, during the current conscription period, more than 1,800 draftees have already been sent for repeated examinations. The new system is expected to reduce the number of such cases by 90%.
