
Armenian school students return from the Olympiad with 17 medals
The 21st Zhautykov International Olympiad took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from January 13-17. The event hosted 90 teams (about 700 students) from 15 countries. And it covered the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics.
The RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (ESCS) issued a statement. It noted that Armenia was represented by students from the A. Shahinyan PhysMath School 14 students, Quantum College 8 students, Photon College 7 students, and the High School of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia 4 students.
Out of 14 participants from the PhysMath School, 11 earned medals: 2 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze. The Ministry published their names:
Sargis Arakelyan – Mathematics, Gold Medal
Mikayel Galstyan – Mathematics, Gold Medal
Arsen Makaryan – Mathematics, Silver Medal
Alen Ghazaryan – Mathematics, Silver Medal
Arman Asatryan – Mathematics, Silver Medal
Gor Hasratyan – Physics, Silver Medal
Martin Khachatryan – Informatics, Silver Medal
Mher Kalashyan – Informatics, Silver Medal
Mikayel Yeghiazaryan – Mathematics, Bronze Medal
Smbat Poghosyan – Physics, Bronze Medal
Tsovak Egoyan – Informatics, Bronze Medal
From Quantum College’s 8 participants, 4 received medals: 1 silver and 3 bronze:
Gagik Gevorgyan – Informatics, Silver Medal
Grigor Tokhyan – Mathematics, Bronze Medal
Samvel Harutyunyan – Physics, Bronze Medal
Alex Grigoryan – Informatics, Bronze Medal
Out of 7 students from Photon College, 1 won a bronze medal:
Sevada Harutyunyan – Mathematics, Bronze Medal
From the High School of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, 1 student earned a bronze medal:
Emil Harutyunyan – Physics, Bronze Medal
Additionally, Hovsep Karapetyan, the Physics team leader from the High School of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, won a gold medal in the coaches’ competition.
The ESCS Ministry staff welcomed the winners at the airport, celebrating their successful participation in the Olympiad.
