1,087,868 Individuals in Armenia Hold Valid Identification Cards
As of January 22, 1,087,868 individuals in Armenia hold valid identification cards. This was reported by the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Obtaining an identification card is voluntary and available from the age of 16. The agency does not have data on how many of the cardholders are registered as employed. However, for registered employees, having an identification card is mandatory for submitting income declarations to the State Revenue Committee (SRC).
The mandatory requirement for identification cards has been discussed in the National Assembly, focusing on technical issues related to the declaration process. Civil Contract MP Arsen Torosyan criticized the mandatory requirement and urged for a simplification of the declaration procedure.
It should be noted that the 2024 income declaration must be submitted to the SRC by May 1.
