Vahe Aghasyan Becomes European U23 Judo Champion

Vahe Aghasyan (60 kg), a member of the Armenian national judo team, has become the European U23 Champion. The tournament took place in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova.

The Armenian athlete defeated representatives from Bulgaria, Spain, Moldova, and Belgium, and in the final, prevailed over Georgian judoka Mate Gogoberishvili.

This is the second gold medal in the history of Armenia at the European U23 Championship. The first was won by Armen Nazaryan in 2003.

It should be recalled that the last time an Armenian representative won gold at the Senior European Championship was Ferdinand Karapetyan in 2019.

The Armenian youth judo team, led by head coach Hovhannes Davtyan, is participating in the European U23 Championship in Moldova, which is being held from October 31 to November 1.
