Suren Papikyan: “Peace is not invented, it is reality”
Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated that there are positive changes observed in Azerbaijan’s rhetoric, and that the establishment of peace, according to him, is no longer an imaginary idea but a real process.
The minister also touched upon the issue of changing the military uniform, noting that several thousand field samples are currently being studied: “We will proceed with changing the army uniform — we are already testing new options, and after obtaining the results, a decision will be made on which one to choose,” Papikyan noted.
Answering journalists’ question about why Azerbaijan is increasing its military budget while Armenia is not, the minister assured that the 2026 budget is balanced and developing at a natural pace. According to him, ammunition purchases will be carried out in the same volumes, and the events of August 8 will undoubtedly have their impact on ongoing processes.
Papikyan emphasized that Armenia continues to remain a supporter of peace and is ready to continue all initiatives aimed at ensuring stability and security in the region.
