Technical Failure in the Yerevan Metro
Passengers at the “Sasuntsi David” station of the Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro were forced to exit the train. It returned to the “Garegin Nzhdeh” station. This was reported by a Sputnik Armenia correspondent.
After a temporary pause, a second train arrived at the station but did not stop at the “Sasuntsi David” station.
The Yerevan Metro reports that the cause was technical. The train was halted due to a power failure. According to Anna Aslanyan, the Metro’s Press Secretary, specialists resolved the issue in about half an hour.
Following the incident, passengers who had been disembarked at the “Sasuntsi David” station continued their journey on another train.
Amnews managed to contact one of the citizens who encountered the problem. He mentioned in a conversation with us that he had faced a similar issue on October 23 as well, around 9:30 AM. At that time, the problem was widespread.
“People were stuck inside the trains mid-route. A collapse occurred during the morning peak hour, and people were late for work and class,” noted Gor A.
The frequency of trains in the Yerevan Metro depends on the time of day. During peak hours, the interval between train arrivals is about 5 minutes; at other times, it increases to 10-15 minutes.
