Court Rules to Confiscate 35 Million Drams from Vladimir Gasparyan
35 million Drams will be confiscated from the former Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan, in favor of the Republic of Armenia. This information was reported by the RA Prosecutor General’s Office, noting that the judicial act has entered legal force.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminds that on June 24, 2020, the case, with the confirmed indictment, was sent to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan city. The prosecutor had also filed a civil lawsuit against Vladimir Gasparyan, Levon Yeranosyan, Vardan Tunyan, and Gurgen Grigoryan. The prosecutor sought to confiscate 35 million 200 thousand Drams from Gasparyan, 6 million 513 thousand Drams from Tunyan, and 7 million 954 thousand Drams jointly and severally from Yeranosyan, Tunyan, and Grigoryan.
By the decision of the Anti-Corruption Court, the lawsuit for 7 million 954 thousand Drams filed against Levon Yeranosyan, Vardan Tunyan, and Gurgen Grigoryan was left without resolution, while the lawsuit for 6 million Drams filed against Vardan Tunyan was partially satisfied.
The Prosecutor’s Office recalls that by the verdict of the Anti-Corruption Court on July 9, 2024, Vladimir Gasparyan was found guilty of abuse of official authority (two episodes) and embezzlement of entrusted property in particularly large amounts (two episodes). The Court released him from criminal liability on the grounds that the statute of limitations had expired.
A sentence of 6 years imprisonment was determined as punishment for Gasparyan, but he was released from serving the sentence as a result of the 2018 amnesty.
Levon Yeranosyan, Vardan Tunyan, and Gurgen Grigoryan were also found guilty and were released from criminal liability on the same grounds.
The Prosecutor’s Office also informs that it is planned to confiscate 668 million Drams from Vladimir Gasparyan’s son-in-law and daughter.
On the same day, the Prosecutor’s Office sent a petition to the Director of the “Sevan National Park” SNCO (State Non-Commercial Organization) regarding taking measures to terminate the contract for a plot of land registered illegally in the name of Gasparyan’s wife’s mother in the settlement of Drakhtik.
