Citizens with Salaries Over 200,000 Drams Will Pay Only 500 Drams Monthly for Health Insurance
In the new universal health insurance system, citizens earning 200,000 Drams or more per month will pay approximately 500 Drams monthly in 2026. This was announced by RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a “working discussion,” according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to the Minister, citizens will practically not feel this amount, as the expense is reduced thanks to changes in social credits and payments previously directed to the “Zinapah” (Defender) foundation.
Avanesyan emphasized that the new system will contribute to the early detection and prevention of diseases through mandatory and annual screening programs.
“This is not only a preventive measure, but also the formation of a new culture towards health,” she noted.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, clarified that the system to be launched in 2026 will be universal, but not comprehensive: it will serve all citizens, but not all services will be included.
We should add that individuals under 18, those aged 65 and over, people with disabilities, and certain social groups will have their insurance paid for from the state budget. The cost of the annual package intended for them is 129,600 Drams.
This change, the Ministry and the government hope, should clearly regulate healthcare funding, making it accessible to citizens and the system effective.
