Fire Extinguished at “Yerevan City” on Komitas Avenue
The fire that broke out at the “Yerevan City” supermarket on Komitas Avenue in Yerevan was completely extinguished at 13:54, according to the MIA Rescue Service (Ministry of Internal Affairs). Preliminary data suggests that one victim has been hospitalized. Firefighters and rescuers managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building and to the adjacent petrol station.
Narek Sargsyan, Press Secretary for the Minister of Internal Affairs, told Amnews that two rescuers suffered smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Prior to the arrival of the firefighters, citizens had already been evacuated from the site.
It was previously reported that on November 6, at 11:08, the National Center for Crisis Management received an alert that a fire had broken out in one of the food service points of the “Yerevan City” supermarket on Komitas Avenue. The fire originated in the KFC food establishment, according to the MIA Rescue Service.
Four fire crews and one aerial ladder were dispatched to the scene under the ” 1 BIS” fire complexity call. Subsequently, after the ” Call Number 3″ complexity was declared, an additional ten fire crews, one aerial ladder, as well as on-duty groups from the relevant departments, psychological support, and medical assistance teams were dispatched.
