Vahe Hakobyan Declared Wanted
Vahe Hakobyan, former Member of Parliament from the “Hayastan” (Armenia) Alliance and former Governor of Syunik, has been declared wanted.
It is currently unknown for which case the search was declared. It should be recalled that a criminal case was initiated against him back in 2019 under articles related to embezzlement, abuse of office, and official forgery. According to the criminal case materials, Vahe Hakobyan, his two assistants, and his driver did not attend work in 2017-2018 but continued to receive salaries.
Vahe Hakobyan resigned his parliamentary mandate in November 2022. His brother, Karen Hakobyan, the director of the “Mekur Yerkath” (Clean Iron) factory, was also arrested last September.
On June 25, 2025, the NSS (National Security Service) searched the house of Vahe Hakobyan and his wife, Elisabeth Petrosyan, director of Para TV. Phones were confiscated. Elisabeth Petrosyan was taken in for questioning.
