Former Principal of Noravan School Accused of Large-Scale Embezzlement

The former principal of the secondary school in the village of Noravan, Armavir Province, allegedly misappropriated approximately 2.7 million Drams over three years through the use of fictitious employees. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia (ACC).

The preliminary investigation revealed that the principal appointed various individuals to different positions in the school, despite them never having reported for work. In this manner, the principal embezzled their salaries by using false working time calculation sheets.

The criminal proceeding established that the misappropriated amount totals nearly 2.7 million Drams. The former principal has been charged with embezzlement (misappropriation) and official forgery. Administrative supervision has been applied against the individual. Furthermore, their tenure as principal has been suspended. Charges have also been brought against three employees who assisted the principal’s actions, including the school’s business manager. They have been prohibited from leaving the territory of Armenia.

The Anti-Corruption Committee reports that the inflicted damage, amounting to 2.7 million Drams, has been fully reimbursed. The case has concluded the preliminary investigation and has been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office with the purpose of submitting it to court.
