A Traffic Management Center to be Established in Yerevan
The Yerevan Council of Elders discussed today, and subsequently adopted, the draft decision regarding the establishment of a new body, which envisions the formation of the Yerevan Traffic Management Center. The initiative was presented at the Council session by Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Suren Grigoryan.
The Deputy Mayor noted that the number of passenger cars in the capital is continuously increasing, as a result of which traffic is becoming a serious challenge for the city authorities. According to him, an effective solution to the problems requires the creation of a modern, digital, and technological toolkit.
As presented by him, two main directions are outlined for 2026: the implementation of a public transport dispatching system and comprehensive traffic management. The draft for the liquidation of “Yerevantrans” CJSC will also be presented for discussion to the Council of Elders in the coming days, which is another step toward the system’s restructuring.
During the session, the initiative received majority support, passing with 37 votes in favor and 2 against.
