The Capital is Updating its Transport Fleet

Yerevan City Hall has purchased 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses, which will arrive in the capital in the first half of next year. Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced this at the Council of Elders session, emphasizing that the advance payment for the trolleybuses has already been transferred, and the process of transport reforms will be continuous.

The City Hall also plans to acquire around 250 new 18-meter buses, discussions regarding which, according to Avinyan, will take place before the end of the year at the Investment Committee meeting.

It should be recalled that back in June, the City Hall announced that 30 of the 45 trolleybuses promised at the beginning of the year could not be acquired due to incomplete revenue collection. Those fighting against the transport fare hike were blamed for the situation, as their actions had reduced the system’s revenue.

However, in October, Avinyan announced that after the adoption of the law establishing administrative responsibility for traveling without a ticket, the transport system’s revenues had increased by approximately 20%. Therefore, the modernization of the transport fleet has become possible.
