Court Changes Restrictive Measure Applied to Ara Rostomyan
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance rejected the prosecutor’s motion to extend the house arrest of Ara Rostomyan, father of hero Hakob Rostomyan who died in the 44-day war, for another 3 months.
The court decided to replace the house arrest with a prohibition on leaving the locality and administrative supervision, which will enter into force on November 25. Rostomyan is required not to change his place of residence without permission, not to leave his residential area during nighttime hours, and to register with the probation service once a week. The court also prohibited him from visiting crowded places.
Defense attorney Vahan Hovhannisyan noted that Rostomyan has already respected the requirements of the previous house arrest and has demonstrated appropriate behavior.
Ara Rostomyan is also under investigation in connection with the “Srbazan Payqar” (Holy Struggle) movement case, within the framework of which he is accused of attempted organization of terrorist acts.
