Fire in Chambarak Reaches Border Areas of Tavush
The fire that broke out on the hillside of the Chambarak-Ttu Jur section in Gegharkunik Province is currently under control. Preliminary estimates indicate that the fire is currently burning approximately 70–80 hectares of land. The Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Amnews of this.
243 rescue service employees, 6 fire trucks, and 30 operational groups are participating in the firefighting efforts. Rescue teams from the Yerevan City, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, and Tavush Regional Rescue Departments of the MIA’s Rescue Service, as well as units from the Firefighting and Rescue Work Organization Divisions of the YRD and RUD (Yerevan and Regional Departments), and the Special Purpose Rescue Operations Center have been engaged in the work.
Information about the fire was received the previous day, and the efforts continued all night and are still ongoing. According to preliminary data, a grassy area is burning in three separate spots. Rescuers have managed to prevent the fire from spreading to forest and residential areas.
Reports are circulating in the media that the fire has already reached the border areas of Tavush. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started days ago and has now become uncontrollable.
