Yerevan to Miss CSTO Summit

Armenia will not participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit to be held in Bishkek on November 27. Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of Russia, announced this.

According to Ushakov, Yerevan will not oppose the adoption of documents at the summit but will not ensure attendance. The leaders of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and Tajikistan will participate in the meeting.

Tensions in the relations between Armenia and the CSTO have continued for a long time. Yerevan has frozen its participation in the organization and has not been paying membership fees for nearly two years. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had stated that the probability of Armenia leaving the CSTO is “greater than the unfreezing of membership.”

It should be recalled that Armenia also did not participate in last year’s CSTO summit, which was held in Astana.
