Armed Individuals Attack Armenian Community in Syria
Armed groups have attacked the Alawite Al-Muhajireen and Armenian neighborhoods in the Syrian city of Homs. Murders, looting, and property damage have been recorded in the Alawite neighborhood. Armed individuals also attacked schools and hospitals. The wave of attacks also spread to the Armenian neighborhood, where militants set fire to cars, shops, and residential houses belonging to Armenians.
There is currently no information about casualties or injuries. One of the possible causes of the incident is considered to be the murder of a Sunni married couple in the settlement of Zeidel, located south of Homs.
Syria’s “Security Forces” arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control and stop the wave of violence. Internal affairs bodies urged citizens to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
A curfew has been declared in Homs, during which residents must stay in their homes to ensure public order and security.
