New Charge Filed Against the Father of Tigran Ovanesov

A new charge has been filed against Armen Ovanesov, the father of 3-year-old Tigran Ovanesov, who was murdered in the village of Tsapatagh, Gegharkunik Province. The information is reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia (RA).

The new criminal proceeding initiated regarding the possible physical violence against the child has been merged with the investigation into the circumstances of Tigran’s murder. The conclusions of the commissioned expert examinations have not yet been received.

According to data published in the press, one of the child’s brothers was also subjected to violence, as injuries were found on his face on the day of the incident.

To recall, 3-year-old Tigran Ovanesov went missing on October 27, and his body was discovered on November 2 in a field area adjacent to the village of Tsapatagh. Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan announced that according to preliminary data, the child was strangled by his father. Armen Ovanesov has been detained for two months.

On November 4, the guardianship and custody body held an urgent session, as a result of which the other children of the family were transferred to the FAR (Fund for Armenian Relief).
