JSC Representatives Familiarized Themselves with Canadian Judicial Experience

The working visit of the delegation led by Judicial Supervision Council (JSC) President Artur Atabekyan, carried out within the framework of the Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) program of the Government of Canada, has concluded.

The delegation included JSC member Yeranuhi Tumanyants, President of the Criminal Court of Appeal Vache Margaryan, President of the Administrative Court Karen Zarikyan, Judge of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance Manvel Shahverdyan, and Deputy Head of the Judicial Department Arshak Vardapetyan.

During the ten-day visit, representatives of Armenia’s judicial branch held meetings with Canadian officials in Toronto and Ottawa, studied the specifics of the judicial system in the province of Quebec, and became familiar with the experience in juvenile justice.

In Quebec, the delegation visited the Public Legal Education Center, where the experience of conveying legal issues in an accessible and simple manner was presented.

The delegation of the judicial branch was accompanied by Oleg Shakov, Director of International Programs at the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs of Canada, who had visited Armenia in October with a Canadian delegation.

During the visit, meetings were also held with Canadian-Armenian judges and representatives of the Armenian community.
