Arrests Made at the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports
The head of one of the departments and two other individuals at the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport have been arrested within the framework of a criminal proceeding investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia (RA). The information was confirmed by the Committee.
According to the Committee’s data, the department head was arrested on charges of receiving a bribe, while the other two individuals were arrested on charges of assisting in receiving a bribe and giving a bribe, respectively.
Motions to apply detention as a measure of restraint against them were submitted to the court and were satisfied. They are currently in custody.
Similar actions were previously carried out at the Armenian State Pedagogical University. Within the framework of a criminal proceeding, the Rector of the Pedagogical University, Srbouhi Gevorgyan, one of the University’s Vice-Rectors, and a number of other employees were arrested.
