Gyumri Unveils the Community’s First “Wall of Inclusion”
The community’s first “Wall of Inclusion,” consisting of 70 ceramic tiles, has been unveiled in Gyumri. The tiles feature expressions and calls for equality, human rights, and inclusion. The initiative was implemented by the “Agate” Center for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The tiles were affixed to the wall by people with disabilities, as well as representatives from various fields, including state administration, education, culture, and civil society, symbolizing the collective readiness of all to advance inclusion and equal opportunities.
Karine Grigoryan, President of the Center, noted that the location of the wall was intentional:
“Inclusion should be in every community, not just in the city center. This wall is not only about inclusion but also about joy, creativity, and a light and hopeful attitude toward life. Each of our tiles conveys a value, a principle, and a promise.”
The wall is bilingual, featuring Armenian and English, and some tiles contain expressions in sign language. Representatives of non-governmental organizations who arrived from Germany, Georgia, and Moldova also installed one tile each, as part of regional cooperation and experience exchange.
Similar initiatives are also planned to be implemented in Georgia and Moldova under the “Together for Inclusion” program.
