Armenia on the global “zero waste” agenda
RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan participated in the opening ceremony of the “Zero Waste Forum” global conference in Istanbul.
In his speech, Papoyan emphasized that water resource conservation and reduction of food losses are among the priorities of Armenia’s economy. He noted that the state is taking various measures to overcome existing challenges.
The Minister also referred to the recently approved “Framework Action Plan for the Development of Green, Sustainable, and Circular Economy” in Armenia, which aims to support the introduction of environmental and economic sustainable solutions. The forum was attended by about two dozen ministers from the agricultural sector, as well as other high-ranking officials, whose main goal is to promote the “zero waste” concept globally.
During the event, Papoyan held discussions with the Ministers of Agriculture of Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Iraq, discussing opportunities for sectoral cooperation and effective solutions.
