Electronic timetables to be installed at 30 bus shelters in Yerevan

Electronic timetables will soon be installed at 30 bus shelters in Yerevan. During the operative consultation of the Yerevan Council of Elders, it was announced that the relevant equipment has already been imported and preparatory work will begin soon.

According to Sargis Manukyan, Director of the Center for Management Technologies, electronic timetables are currently operating on a trial basis at 6 bus stops in the capital. With the installation of the new 30 units, the volume of information available at Yerevan’s bus stops will be significantly expanded. By the end of the year, a total of 36 bus shelters will have timetables.

Manukyan noted that the data displayed at the bus stops is currently provided via the Yandex platform, while testing with the 2GIS system is ongoing. The most accurate option will be selected to ensure data is close to real-time.

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan inquired about the extent to which the information displayed at the bus stops corresponds to the actual arrival time. Manukyan clarified that some deviations exist, but they are within internationally accepted norms.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan emphasized that the accuracy of data in the information system has significantly improved in recent months, and the certain discrepancies in Yandex are due to the peculiarities of technological algorithms.
