New program to promote tourism in the regions with a budget of 120.5 million euros

RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan held a meeting in the office of the Governor of Vayots Dzor Province with regional and community leaders, as well as representatives of the tourism sector, where he presented the “Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Program of Armenia” (TRIP). Vahagn Arsenyan, MP Trdat Sargsyan, Lusine Gevorgyan, as well as the heads of Yeghegnadzor, Areni, and Jermuk communities participated in the meeting.

The TRIP program is aimed at the development of seven tourist clusters in the country: Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis, Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan. The goal of the program is to promote wine, spa, adventure, cultural, educational, and ecotourism, and the total budget amounts to 120.5 million euros.

Within the framework of the program, investments are planned in Vayots Dzor for road restoration, development of spa, wine, and agritourism, training in the HoReCa sector, as well as the improvement of museum and cultural infrastructures.

The Minister noted that a local working group will be created for the implementation of the program, which will support the program implementation process.

It is worth noting an interesting coincidence: the program’s name, TRIP, coincides with the English acronym for the “Trump’s Road Initiative for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP). However, this is a coincidence; there is no connection between the content or goals of the programs.
