The “Mer Dzevov” movement starts a petition demanding a reduction in the electricity tariff

The “Mer Dzevov” (Our Way) movement is launching a nationwide signature collection campaign demanding a reduction in the electricity tariff. Gohar Meloyan, a member of the movement’s legal team, said this during a meeting with journalists on December 3.

“On October 30, ‘Tashir Capital’ once again submitted an application regarding the reduction of the electricity tariff. At that time, we announced the launch of public control over the PSRC (Public Services Regulatory Commission) to ensure the demand is deemed substantiated and fair. Today is December 3, but the PSRC has not yet responded to the application. Therefore, we are launching a nationwide signature collection campaign in the form of a petition,” said Meloyan.

She emphasized that the petition makes it possible to bring to life the institutions of public control and accountability, which were introduced in 2015 during the constitutional reforms.

Any person over the age of 14 can sign the petition.

It should be recalled that on October 30, “Tashir Capital” submitted a second application to the PSRC regarding the tariff reduction by “Electric Networks of Armenia” CJSC. The first application, submitted in May, was rejected by the commission.
