ENA clarifies New Year power outages

During a briefing with journalists today, Romanos Petrosyan, the interim manager of “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) CJSC, addressed the power outages in the Erebuni administrative district.

According to him, from a technical perspective, there is nothing extraordinary or sensational when an emergency shutdown occurs in any given sector. The issue of compensation for such cases will be regulated by law. That is, if it is determined that the cause of the power outage was due to ENA’s inaction, the affected subscribers will receive compensation.

Petrosyan also presented comparative data, noting that at midnight last New Year, approximately 32,000 subscribers were without power across the republic, while this year, on New Year’s Eve, that number stood at 9,200.

“Since the attention of news outlets and certain political circles was more focused on ENA, it created the impression that the situation was being overly fetishized,” Petrosyan added.
