Road closures in Armenia: what is known about the current road conditions

According to the Road Department, as of 18:00 on December 27, it is snowing in the regions of Aparan, Aragats, Spitak, Tumanyan, Tashir, Abovyan, Sevan, Ani, Chambarak, Ashotsk, Sisian, and Meghri, as well as at the Vardenyats Pass. The latter is difficult to pass, especially for trailer vehicles.

Fog is reported on the roads of the Abovyan and Artashat regions, with visibility ranging between 100-150 meters.

As of 18:40, due to severe blizzards and low visibility, the section of the M-7 interstate highway from the settlement of Lusaghbyur to the Jajur mountain passes is closed.

Road workers are continuously carrying out snow removal and salt-sand treatment operations to ensure safe traffic flow.

Meanwhile, the Military Georgian Road is open for light passenger cars, but it has remained closed for trucks since yesterday. Weather conditions at the mountain pass are poor, with black ice and snow accumulations in some areas. According to Amnews, several traffic accidents have been recorded, primarily involving drivers using summer tires.

No significant queues for passenger cars have been reported at the border checkpoints; the average crossing time is approximately one hour.
