Electricity tariffs to remain unchanged in 2026

In 2026, electricity tariffs for consumers will not increase and will remain the same. The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of the Republic of Armenia made this decision today, approving the tariffs for major generating plants and service providers within the electric power system.

In Armenia, the tariff, which has remained unchanged since February 1, 2022, for average consumption (up to 200 kWh) stands at 46.5 AMD per 1 kWh. For consumption between 200-400 kWh, the price increases to 48.5 AMD, and for consumption exceeding 400 kWh, it is 53.5 AMD. A privileged tariff of 30 AMD applies to socially vulnerable families.

The Commission noted that following an analysis of all factors influencing the tariffs, no need arose for a change in the price of electric energy sold to consumers by “Electric Networks of Armenia” (ENA) CJSC.

Earlier, on October 30, “Tashir Capital” applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission for the second time to lower the tariff; however, the application was rejected. The first application, submitted in May, was also rejected. Following this, the “Mer Dzevov” (In Our Way) movement organized a petition demanding a reduction in electricity tariffs.

On July 3, the National Assembly of the RA adopted in the second reading a package of amendments to the laws regarding the PSRC and the energy sector, which envisages the nationalization process of ENA. On July 18, Romanos Petrosyan, the former head of the PSRC’s state supervision service, was appointed as the interim manager of “Electric Networks of Armenia” CJSC.

On November 17, the PSRC terminated ENA’s license granted to the “Tashir Capital” company. Samvel Karapetyan, President of the “Tashir” Group, had acquired the company in 2016.
