Lawyer smuggled drugs into penitentiary institution: what is known?
A lawyer has been arrested for attempting to transfer narcotics to their client at the “Vanadzor” Penitentiary Institution. The information was reported by the RA Penitentiary Service.
According to the Service’s statement, on January 10, a cigarette box containing 8 separate packages was found in the bag of a lawyer visiting their client at the “Vanadzor” PI (Penitentiary Institution). Examination revealed that the packages contained a mass resembling marijuana (21.9 grams), a powdery brown mass (2.9 grams), and a white, powdery, and crystalline mass (0.8 grams).
Operational intelligence had been previously received at the PI indicating that the lawyer might attempt to transfer drugs to the client during the visit. As a result, the mentioned packages were discovered in the bag during the conducted search.
The lawyer has been arrested and presented to the Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee for the initiation of criminal proceedings.
