Criminal case initiated against a minor for violent actions of a sexual nature
In 2022, a minor from one of the regions of the RA committed violent actions of a sexual nature against another minor. The preliminary investigation, which began in November 2022, has concluded. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the RA.
During the investigation, it was established that in 2022, the accused met with their peer under the pretext of providing important information and then, using violence, committed actions of a sexual nature.
On November 14, 2024, the same individual, while serving as a witness within another criminal proceeding, refused to testify about the cases concerning the circumstances of sexual acts and kidnappings committed by a number of minors.
Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the minor under Article 198, Part 3, Point 2 of the Criminal Code (violent actions of a sexual nature committed against a person under the age of 12 to 14) and Article 503, Part 2, Point 2 (refusal to provide testimony, conclusion, or opinion, or to perform translation in connection with a grave or especially grave crime).
The criminal proceedings, along with the indictment, have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve and forward it to the court for examination on the merits.
