Construction company destroys 327 trees: case sent to court
The preliminary investigation into a criminal case initiated regarding the illegal felling of trees by a company conducting construction work in the Lori Province has been completed; the damage caused to the state and the community has been fully compensated.
According to the RA Investigative Committee, the investigation revealed that between October and December 2024, the company destroyed 208 state-owned trees in various areas of the Gyulagarak forest range of the “Stepanavan Forest Enterprise” branch of “Hayantar” SNCO (State Non-Commercial Organization) by breaking and uprooting them using construction machinery.
The preliminary investigation also established that during the same period, another 119 community-owned trees were destroyed in the same manner within the administrative territory of the Gyulagarak settlement. In total, 327 trees were destroyed.
As a result of these actions, property damage of approximately 4 million 479 thousand AMD was caused to the state. Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against one individual in connection with the incident under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.
During the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings, the damage caused to the state and the Gyulagarak community was fully restored. The case, along with the indictment, has been sent to the supervising prosecutor.
