Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan questioned: what is known
During a meeting with journalists today, the RA Minister of Finance, Vahe Hovhannisyan, confirmed that he was questioned two days ago within the framework of a criminal case regarding illegal entrepreneurial activity.
The Minister emphasized that he has not engaged in entrepreneurship since becoming a state official, although there were some initiatives in the past. According to Hovhannisyan, the interrogation was conducted in his capacity as a witness rather than an accused person.
It had been previously reported that the criminal case concerns the Minister’s ties to “Caritas Italiana” CJSC, a company operating in the field of information technology that received a startup license from the state. The case was initiated in connection with possible illegal entrepreneurial activity.
It should be recalled that on December 4, 2024, Ara Zohrabyan, the former rector of the Academy of Advocates, along with a group of lawyers, applied to the Prosecutor General’s Office proposing to initiate proceedings involving corruption risks against Vahe Hovhannisyan. In early April 2025, it became known that the Anti-Corruption Court’s decision from February 27 of that year to refuse to initiate a case had been overturned, and the Court of Appeal mandated the initiation of criminal proceedings.
