Snow, fog and blizzard: current situation on RA highways
Winter weather conditions continue in several regions of the republic. As of 10:05 AM on January 31, all interstate and republican highways are open for traffic.
Light snow is falling in the regions of Masis, Artashat, Ararat, Vayk, Sisian, Sevan, Gavar, and Aparan.
Dense fog is observed at the Vardenyats Pass, resulting in visibility dropping to 30–50 meters. Due to the blizzard and limited visibility, the Vardenyats Pass is difficult to traverse for vehicles with trailers.
Fog is also reported in the Ashtarak region, with visibility at approximately 80–100 meters.
Concurrently, precipitation is expected across the republic in the coming days. On January 31 and from February 1–4, precipitation is forecast in separate regions: sleet in the foothills and valleys, and snow in the mountainous zones. Blizzards and a significant decrease in horizontal visibility are also possible in certain mountainous areas.
Furthermore, wind intensification with speeds of up to 17–20 m/s is expected in some regions during the afternoon of January 30, as well as on January 31 and February 1–3. On the night and morning of January 31, fog is forecast in the low-lying areas of the Shirak Plain, the foothills of Aragatsotn and Kotayk, as well as in the Ararat Plain.
