Military police monitoring Saint Astvatsatsin Church in Kanaker
Since this morning, a Military Police vehicle has been monitoring the Saint Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church in Kanaker, which belongs to the Spiritual Ministry of the RA Armed Forces.
This was reported by Father (Ter) Psak Mkrtchyan, the spiritual pastor of the Saint Grigor Narekatsi Church at the Yerevan Garrison Hospital, who noted that the church belongs to the Mother See [of Holy Etchmiadzin].
The priest is raising an alarm, stating that this move may be aimed at obstructing the entry of clergymen into the church.
To recap, the Spiritual Ministry of the RA Armed Forces was dissolved yesterday by the order of Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan. Prior to the Minister’s clarification, Father Psak had addressed this issue, stating that Divine Liturgies would no longer be performed at the Saint Grigor Narekatsi Church of the Kanaz Hospital.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) clarifies that since there are several military units in the mentioned administrative district, this is a routine service.
