Garegin II received the clergy of the Armed Forces
According to the Mother See, on February 6, Catholicos Garegin II received the regimental priests of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia (RA), whose service was terminated as of February 1.
During the meeting, the Catholicos commended the service of the clergy, urging them to continue their mission in new locations of service with dedication and responsibility.
Garegin II also made new appointments of clergy within the Armed Forces.
It should be recalled that, by an order issued by the Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan, the Spiritual Leadership, which had carried out spiritual service for over 20 years, was dissolved as of February 1.
Papikyan had stated that the regimental chaplains were previously subordinate to the Mother See, and in case of disagreement, the Mother See could appeal to the court.
